We know that one of the most important decisions parents must make is the one concerning their child's education. We hope the information available here helps you become familiar with GCS and our approach to education, from our preschool up through your elementary and middle school grades.

Our School
Gaarde Christian School (GCS) was founded in 1967, and has been educating students in and around Tigard, Oregon, for 42 years and counting. We are registered with the State of Oregon Department of Education and are an active member of the Association of Christian Schools International.
It is our mission to create a loving, Christian environment in which children are educated at a standard of excellence above reproach, from our Preschool Program all the way up through Middle School.

Our Curriculum and Programs
Preschool. Our Preschool Program is designed to prepare students academically for our kindergarten and elementary programs (which are more reading-intensive in the early years). Individual classrooms are designed to meet the emerging needs and interests of the children in each class.
Elementary and Middle. Our Elementary and Middle School curriculum are Christ-centered and progressively developed to meet individual needs. We believe children learn best through active involvement in a loving environment, and intentionally strive to build such an environment in our classrooms and in our school. Our curriculum prepares the students for middle school and senior high. Classes are small and teachers work closely with students and their parents.
Day Care. Gaarde Christian Day Care, a ministry of Faith Journey Church, is a state licensed Day Care that provides care for GCS students, as well as children in our community. The Day Care hours are 7:00 am - 8:10 am and 11:30 am - 6:00 pm. Registration is required and an hourly rate is charged.

GCS is a ministry of Faith Journey Church. We are blessed to have an outstanding faculty with a wealth of experience and education. They are committed to creating a loving, Christian environment in which our students can grow, learn and excel.
