This year, GCS introduced a Robotics Club: a team-based, after school activity which started in September running through mid-December. The Robotics club is for students in 4th - 8th grades, with a maximum of 7 students per team. The students compete in the FIRST Lego League, an international Robotics competition where the students design, build and program a Lego NXT Robot to compete in an Engineering-themed challenge each year. In addition, the team prepares for a presentation project where they research and come up with an innovative solution to a real world problem.
Robotics teaches teamwork, problem solving, research, planning and creativity with an emphasis on science, engineering, technology and FUN!
This year the team: "Gaarde Robotechs", consisted of 4th and 5th graders who have been working hard learning robotics and are getting prepared for their tournament on December 11th.
